The term “arktivist” is a clever amalgamation of two words. Firstly, in our project “ark” symbolizes a sculpture boat constructed using discarded plastic bottles, a collaborative effort initiated by 300 residents. This creative project not only aimed to enhance the local environment but also aimed to raise awareness about the detrimental impact of plastic waste on climate change.
Secondly, the term “activist” refers to an individual actively engaged in promoting and advocating for change. The arktivists serve as the modern-day stewards of our planet, reminiscent of Noah, taking the lead to explore solutions and act to preserve our environment.
